Trevor Denton, DPT, Internal Medicine/Hospital Medicine

Trevor completed his Bachelor of Science in Movement Science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was a Stamps Scholar and a Varsity Cross Country and Track student-athlete. He then earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Central Michigan University. As a Physical Therapist, Trevor gained diverse experience in outpatient orthopedics, home health, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and the emergency department. He holds certifications in Applied Functional Science, McKenzie Method, and Pain Neuroscience Education. Prior to his current role, Trevor worked at the University of Michigan's Rogel Cancer Center within the Oncology Clinical Trial Support Unit. There, he led first-in-human phase 1 clinical trials on the Multi-Tumor Experimental Therapeutics team. In his current role as a project manager at the Division of Hospital Medicine, Trevor provides essential support and collaborates closely with faculty and staff to develop, design, and implement quality improvement research projects and initiatives. His primary research focus is on improving older adult patient mobility and the use of technology in healthcare.

Molly Hunter, MD, Surgery/Acute Care Surgery

Dr. Hunter is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Acute Care Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Michigan. She received a B.A. in History at Davidson College in Davidson, NC. She then went on to Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC where she completed a combined MD/MA in Bioethics. Dr. Hunter completed her general surgery residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI and a combined Burn/Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Dr. Hunter's research focuses on improving healthcare outcomes for burn injury patients both in the US and globally.
Anjali Shah, MD, Ophthalmology

Dr. Shah earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2006, completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine in 2010 and a fellowship in medical retina at New England Eye Center, Tufts University in 2011. Dr. Shah is involved in multiple clinical research projects focused on improving outcomes and understanding risk in diabetic eye disease. She is Co-Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Ophthalmology, and Medical Director of the Kellogg Eye Center, Ann Arbor.
Zheng Zhang, PhD, Radiation Oncology

Dr. Zhang is a board-certified clinical medical physicist, practicing in the Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Michigan. He received his PhD from the University of Colorado Boulder, followed by a medical physics research fellowship at Mayo Clinic Rochester and residency training at University of Pennsylvania. He studied polymer science before entering this new field. Dr. Zhang is passionate about enhancing the medical physics talent pipeline to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and growth. His research focuses on augmenting learning health system infrastructure via natural language processing. He is also interested in process improvement through the implementation of novel ClinOps analytics. In his free time, he enjoys spending time on the beautiful Huron River with fellow club members from the Ann Arbor Rowing Club.

Amir Reza Azizian, MS, Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems (HILS) PhD student

Amir Azizian holds a master’s degree in Community and Population Health Sciences from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. He was a Learning Health Systems (LHS) specialist collaborating with the Clinical Excellence portfolio at the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) since December 2020. In his role as an LHS specialist, Amir was involved in projects aimed at transforming the provincial healthcare organization into an LHS. His work included the development of the SHA's LHS conceptual model, the SHA’s framework for the development and implementation of clinical pathways, and the SHA’s primer for the development of provincial clinical networks, all of which will be integral in improving healthcare delivery.
Natalie Guzman, Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems (HILS) PhD student (MD/PhD Student)

Natalie Guzman is an MD/PhD student at the University of Michigan Medical School. Natalie is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated in 2020 with BA in Medicine, Health, and Society at Vanderbilt University. Her interests include implementation science, multi-site collaboratives, and surgical quality improvement.
